Family-Friendly Fun in central Arkansas

Family-Friend Fun

Summer is right around the corner. As temperatures rise and schoolbooks are stashed away, the itch to get out of your house increases as well. While Clark Exterminating wants to make sure that your home is a safe, pest-free place, we understand the need you have to get outside and away sometimes. The good news is that in central Arkansas you don’t have to go far to find family-friendly activities whether that’s in Little Rock, Hot Springs, Conway, or anywhere in between.

At Clark Exterminating, we are a family-owned company and family is at the center of everything we do. Summer is a time when you can go on family outings and vacations. Knowing that we assembled a list of family-friendly opportunities for you right here in Arkansas this summer!

Take me out to the ballgame!
What’s better than baseball in the summer? Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock is a great place to spend an evening celebrating America’s favorite pastime. The Arkansas Travelers, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, play April through September.
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
There are plenty of animals to see and activities to do at the Little Rock Zoo. But if you’re feeling a bit adventurous…did you know that Hot Springs is home to the Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo? It’s open year-round and is reasonably priced for the entire family. Hot Springs is also home to the National Park Aquarium, which has displays of fish of all kinds, frogs, turtles, and more.Get outside.
Arkansas is called the Natural State for reason; get out and enjoy its scenic parks. We have nine state parks just in central Arkansas. Lake Catherine and Lake Ouachita Parks are both in the Hot Springs area and feature picnic areas, trails, and campsites for the overnight adventurers. Pinnacle Mountain in Little Rock has hiking trails, horseback riding, boat tours, and more.

Visit a theme park.
Yes, you can visit some pretty awesome theme parks in Dallas and St. Louis. But why drive nearly six hours away when you’ve got two right here in central Arkansas? North Little Rock is home to Wild River Country and Magic Springs is located in Hot Springs. Wild River Country has several attractions from “The Thrilling 3” to the “Pipeline” ride to the wave pool. People of all ages can find something to do at this water park. Magic Springs offers a great variety for families from water rides to rollercoasters to kiddie rides. During the summer, they also host a concert series with well-known artists like Joe Nichols, Joan Jett, and the Blackhearts, 3 Doors Down, and many more!

Enjoy a movie.
During the summer, several towns offer free movies in local parks. That’s right, we said free! Every Wednesday in June and July, the Little Rock River Market is home to an outdoor movie. Pack up a picnic dinner and head downtown at sundown. Several choices this summer are family-friendly including “Despicable Me” and “The Goonies.” The SilverMoon Cinema, in downtown Conway, runs free movies from April to October. Benton also offers movies in the park quarterly.

Drop-in a museum.
Let’s be honest, not every day of the summer is a sunshine day. For those rainy days, stop by one of the many museums around town. Central Arkansas has plenty of options for you – ranging from the more educational places to some “just-for-fun” stops. The Museum of Discovery is a great place to take the kids any time of the year. For older kids or if you’re looking for a more educational experience, check out the Clinton Presidential Library, Historic Arkansas Museum, or the Old State House Museum. If you’re more interested in art, Conway is home to the Baum Gallery of Fine Art. For sports fans, the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame is in North Little Rock. If you want to take the short drive to Hot Springs you can visit the Mid-American Science Museum, Gangster Museum of America, or the Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum.

At Clark Exterminating, we know that summer is a time for travel and to get out of the house with your family. Just remember, if you come back from a trip and find bugs moved in while you were out, give us a call!
